Clinical Research Associate
Virginia joined IMARC Research in 2012, bringing with her a wealth of clinical experience to the organization. She has spent much of her career in the cardiac rhythm management (CRM) field, working first as a nurse in electrophysiology and cardiac care. From there, Virginia took on a position of Field Clinical Engineer with St. Jude Medical where she contributed to 17 IDE studies, in addition to numerous smaller scale scientific studies. She later transitioned into a clinical instructor role where she was responsible for the training of both internal and external customers on various products, as well as CRM and electrophysiology topics. Early in her career, Virginia also spent 11 years as a nurse with the United States Naval Reserve, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Leveraging her experience, Virginia easily transitioned into the monitoring role. Her understanding of clinical trials and experience in clinical care allowed her to quickly grasp the protocols she was assigned to and become an asset to her study teams. She monitors studies in various therapeutic areas such as acute kidney injury, wound healing, and aortic interventions. In addition to her monitoring work, Virginia also contributes to IMARC’s internal therapeutic training efforts, and has assisted with internal quality auditing projects.
Virginia holds a Diploma in nursing from St. Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing and is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in liberal studies from Excelsior College (anticipated completion in 2013). She is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA).
