We ran across an article in the Wall Street Journal talking about how the medical device industry is being impacted by the continued venture capital drought.  A MedCity News article summarized the article this way:

In an article published last week in MedCity News, the author quoted a survey, stating that clinical trials would get more participants if doctors informed their patients about them.

As we embrace the coming year, many implore to make resolutions for the coming year in hopes to make 2013 an even more prosperous year then the previous. A recent article published in MedCity News points out the “Top 5 New Year’s Resolutions for the Medical Device Industry for 2013 and beyond.” With out doubt the industry has been through a rollercoaster of events in 2012, especially concerning the medical device tax; how can the industry set up for a thriving year?

This recent article from MedCity News caught my eye.  The article states that the medical device industry is rallying around the repeal of the 2.3% medical device tax as a job and innovation killer.  However, they indicate that a potentially bigger threat to the medical device industry is the strong health and wellness push that is focused on keeping patients out of the hospital.

On April 5th, President Barack Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Bill.  The crowdfunding provision of the bill could mark a new era for startups and make it easier to procure funding from new investors to early and later-stage health care companies.
