Medical Technologist

Medical Technologist Responsibilities

  • Reviews daily quality control, calibrations and maintenance logs
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Performs medical technologist functions such as understanding assay/instrument precision and accuracy, assessment of analytical variability and bias, new methods evaluation and implementation, ability to assess and suggest improvements in quantitative measurements and report laboratory results
  • Proficient in major areas of the clinical laboratory; clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, serology, urinalysis, and microbiology
  • Perform low, moderate, and high-complexity testing
  • Document procedures

Monitoring Responsibilities

Conducting pre-study, initiation, routine (as needed to ensure protocol compliance), and close-out visits; training study coordinators/investigators on protocol including study procedures, CRF completion, enrollment, and informed consent; working with staff at study sites to resolve data discrepancies; obtaining/reviewing/processing of regulatory and administrative documents from investigative sites; maintaining investigational product accountability; monitoring IRB requirements; and reporting findings from visits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education: Bachelors of Science degree in biological science, chemistry or related field; successful completion of an ASCP or NAACLS approved program
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Licensure: Appropriate State License issued by State board as directed by state law
  • Certification(s): ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized medical technology certification or categorical certification
  • Up to 60% travel a week
